The Bay Area practitioners of Sanatan Shastar Vidiya
Sanatan Shastar Vidiya is a rare example of a living martial tradition. It is, first and foremost, a weapons art. Rather than teaching forms, kata, and techniques, the principles-based instruction focuses on efficient use of a relaxed and unified body to devastating effect.
Gurudev Nidar Singh visits the Bay area several times per year, conducting seminars to introduce concepts of the art and practical skills to a diverse group of martial artists and weapons art practitioners. Personal instruction is also available.
Gurudev Nidar Singh will be teaching a seminar on September 28th and 29th. Click here for the Eventbrite page. The event will take place at The Academy of Jeet Kune Do Sciences from 10am to 6pm each day (with a short break for lunch). Contact Damon Evans (email: [email protected], phone: (707) 762-0111 ) or Tim Butterer (email: [email protected]) for more information.
Daily training is available through the month of September. Contact Damon Evans (email: [email protected], phone: (707) 762-0111 ) or Tim Butterer (email: [email protected]) for details.
Seminars cover a wide variety of subjects of interest to both novice and experienced practitioners. Past subjects have included the system's smooth and deceptive movement principles, highly practical martial yoga exercises, structural alignment methods, and skills development activities. The focus will typically include one of the system's six animal styles: its associated weapons, characteristic approaches to fighting, and unique route of internals development.
Weekly training in San Francisco, CA includes practice in movement, striking, grappling, weapons and empty-hand sparring, and internals development
Training Sessions are held multiple days a week in Petaluma, led by Sifu Damon Evans. For more information visit The Academy of Jeet Kune Do Sciences.
